From the darkness

it was pitch black cold and damp
I could hear the drip of water
as it echoed through the air
I sat on the cold damp cement floor
I could feel the moisture
on the palm of my hand
I heard the rustle of footsteps
as they slowly grew louder
as if someone was approaching me
all of a sudden they were upon me
I could hear their breathing
a voice softly gently spoke
it said take my hand
let me lift you to your feet
walk you from this dark place
I reached out into the darkness
fumbling through the air
grasping on to her hand
she pulled me to my feet holding my hand
she walks with me until we came to a door
she opens the door
and the brightness of the light
made my eyes squint
my arm raised to shade my eyes
we walked into the sunshine
the grass was green
the trees were full of leaves
a light breeze was blowing in the air
in the distance was a small cottage
walk with me won't you please she said
to our home where you and I
shall live happily ever after
my eyes filled with tears
I could not believe this was happening
but it was happiness had come
found me and took me in
